Our inaugural ‘Grand Day Out’ tour took place on Sunday 27th June 2010 and was titled ‘Cumbrian Steam & A Taste of Lancashire’.
The destination was the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway in Cumbria. This was a very fitting choice for our inaugural tour as this is where TML Travel Group’s Director ran his first coach tour 21 years ago at the age of 15! Commenting on the choice of destination for the first tour of the new venture, David Arkell said “it seemed fitting to bring things full circle for this new venture by going back to the place where my career in Coach Tourism really began. The vehicles have changed considerably in 21 years, but the destination itself has changed very little.”
The day featured one of Eavesway’s new 2010 intake VanHool Altano’s (complete with full leather seating), a return journey on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway followed by a three course Sunday Roast Dinner at the four star Preston Marriott Hotel. On the outward journey clients were able to take advantage of a complimentary at seat onboard refreshments service of hot drinks and biscuits.
Customer feedback was excellent, there were 45 passengers and three crew members in attendance.
