MONDAY (DAY 1) – This morning we depart from your local joining point as we head for Dunblane and our overnight hotel the 4* Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro Hotel. On arrival, we enjoy a traditional afternoon tea, which is the perfect way to start our holiday and time in Scotland.
This evening, we enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant before the final push to Orkney in the morning. Included Meals – Afternoon Tea, Dinner
TUESDAY (DAY 2) – This morning following breakfast, we say goodbye to Dunblane and head for the coastal town of Scrabster. During your journey to Scrabster we visit the Queens View near Pitlochry for a morning coffee stop and a lunch stop will be made at the 4* New Drumossie Hotel, Inverness. For your enjoyment we include a 2 course lunch here accompanied by a glass of something followed by tea/coffee.
Mid-afternoon, we say farewell to Inverness as we make the final push to Scrabster to make the 1900hrs ferry. On arrival in Scrabster, we check-in and board the evening ferry to Orkney. A three-course evening meal will be served during the 90-minute sailing to Stromness this evening. On arrival in Stromness, we head for the town of Kirkwall and The 3* Kirkwall Hotel (refurbished 2021), which will be our base for the next four nights. The Kirkwall Hotel with stunning views to the north is one of Orkney's finest Victorian Buildings, perfectly situated within the historic town of Kirkwall, on the picturesque harbour front, close to the marina and the main shopping area. As a privately-owned family run business, you will be looked after with a genuine warm welcome and friendly efficient service throughout your visit. The hotel has 37 en-suite rooms with a great range of facilities, an excellent harbour view restaurant offering an extensive menu featuring the best local produce has to offer, relaxing lounge, function rooms, lounge bar and public bar. Included Meals – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (taken onboard Ferry)
WEDNESDAY (DAY 3) – This morning following breakfast, the day is yours to enjoy Kirkwall at your leisure as our driver & Tour Manager both require a legal day off today. However, we include a walking tour with a See Orkney guide from the hotel.
A number of attractions and places of interest are within walking distance of the hotel, these include the stunning St Magnus Cathedral – a must for anyone visiting Kirkwall, the Earl’s and Bishop’s Palaces, The Orkney Museum and The Highland Park Distillery and Visitor Centre. You may also wish to take a local ferry boat to one of the nearby outlying islands.
This evening, we enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant. Included Meals – Breakfast, Dinner
THURSDAY (DAY 4) – Following breakfast, we re-join our coach for a full day Orkney Highlights tour (provided by See Orkney) visiting some of the most remarkable archaeological sites, namely Skara Brae and The Ring of Brodgar (located in the World Heritage Site – The Heart of Neolithic Orkney), Skaill House, The Standing Stones of Stenness, Maeshowe, Scapa Flow, The Churchill Barriers & the ornate Italian Chapel.
This evening we enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant once again. Included Meals – Breakfast, Dinner
FRIDAY (DAY 5) - Today following breakfast, we are joined by a See Orkney guide one last time as we enjoy a tour visiting Yesnaby Cliffs, Brough of Birsay, Barony Mills and Broch of Gurness. We also visit the picturesque town of Stromness for lunch and some free time.
This evening we enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant and our final night on Orkney. Included Meals – Breakfast, Dinner
SATURDAY (DAY 6) – This morning folloowing an early final breakfast at The Kirkwall Hotel, we say goodbye to Orkney as we travel to Stromness and join the 0900hrs morning ferry back to Scrabster on the mainland. We retrace our steps as we journey south, a lunch stop will be made enroute and we have also included a coffee stop at the 4* Macdonald Aviemore Resort late afternoon. We continue our journey south to Dunblane and our overnight hotel the 4* Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro, where we arrive this evening. We enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant this evening and our final night in Scotland. Included Meals – Breakfast, Afternoon Coffee Stop, Dinner
SUNDAY (DAY 7) – This morning following breakfast, we say goodbye to the Hilton Dunblane Hydro as we continue our journey south taking the memories of this fabulous Orkney tour home with us, but not before we have done so In traditional TML Travel Group fashion with a farewell morning coffee cruise on Loch Lomond. We take a cruise from Balloch at the southern end of the loch mid-morning. Late morning, we depart Balloch and continue our journey south, making a lunch stop and mid-afternoon comfort break enroute. We arrive back at your original departure point late afternoon/evening.
For those of you travelling back to South Yorkshire, we will use Burtonwood Services (our interchange point for clients returning to the Wirral/Chester) as an evening meal stop before returning you to Yorkshire. Included Meals – Breakfast, Morning Coffee & Shortbread
