Oban derives its name from the Gaelic language and means 'little bay', but when it comes to having an unforgettable break, Oban is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Nestled on the west coast and surrounded by miles of dramatic shores and beautiful countryside, the seaside town is a great place for a holiday and base for exploring the surrounding islands. Why not also join us for a day trip to the Isle of Mull? The Isle of Mull has become well known by all who view the BBC programmes Springwatch and Coast. It offers a holiday destination where wildlife is around every corner, visitor attractions cater for all ages, and you have a chance to live a lifestyle far removed from the hectic urban pressurised existence.
Located within the awe-inspiring Lochaber Geopark in the Highlands, the deep valley and towering mountains of Glen Coe were carved out centuries ago by icy glaciers and volcanic explosions. The road through Glen Coe takes you through the heart of an ancient volcano. Follow the Glen Coe Geotrail to find out more about how glaciers and fiery explosions carved out the glen's rugged mountain peaks. Glencoe village is picturesquely located between the banks of Loch Leven and the mouth of the famous glen, making it the perfect base for exploring the area of Lochaber
Experience them all on this scenic four day break!

TUESDAY – This morning following an early breakfast, we come to what must be one of the major highlights of this tour, a journey taking in the Spectacular West Highland Line between Crianlarich & Fort William aboard the standard Scotrail service.
We travel from Oban to Crianlarich, where we board the mid-morning Scotrail service to Fort William. Heading north from Crianlarich is a real spectacle, beginning with the remarkable Horseshoe Curve that enters, circles and leaves the glen beneath Ben Dorain. Then the landscape empties into the broad wilds of Rannoch Moor – where the line floats over the peat bog that stretches to the mountains far in the distance on all sides. If you like to tick these things off, you’ll pass the UK’s highest altitude train station in Corrour. You may also recognise it from scenes in Trainspotting. As the train pushes on to Fort William we travel through Spen Bridge and keep an eye out for Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak.
We arrive in Fort William at lunchtime where our luxury coach is waiting to trasfer us to The Glencoe Inn & Gathering (A Crerar Hotel) nestled in Glencoe Village for an included two course lunch before we take a spectacular scenic winter drive through Glencoe and the Bridge of Orchy to Tyndrum, where we make a brief stop on our return to Oban.
This evening, we enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant and our final night.
