Where can you experience what it was like to fly on Concorde, experience the early years of British Motorsport, travel back to the 1930's and visit the Queen's favourite weekend home?
Join us for this fascinating three-day break to the south of England, which includes a visit to Brooklands Museum! We also include visits to Bekonscot 1930s Model Village & Railway and the Royal Borough of Windsor.
FRIDAY – Today from your local departure point, we head for BEKONSCOT – a 1930’s Model Village, Railway & Gardens near Beaconsfield (admission included) where we arrive around lunchtime. The afternoon is yours to enjoy some lunch and free time exploring this 1930’s time warp. Mid-afternoon, it is time to bid farewell to Bekonscot as we head to Cobham and your hotel for the next two nights – the Marriott Windsor/Heathrow. On arrival, enjoy some leisure time before dinner is served in the hotel restaurant this evening. (Meals = Dinner)
SATURDAY – This Morning following breakfast, we come to what must be the major highlight of this tour, a full day visit to Brooklands Museum – the birthplace of British Motorsport & Aviation and home of Concorde. Before arriving at the museum we take you on a short tour of the wider Brooklands Estate by coach. You will see some of the remaining heritage and features of Brooklands heyday that are not part of the museum site. On arrival at the museum (admission included), the time is then yours to explore this 30-acre site at your leisure. Brooklands was the World's first purpose built motor racing circuit. Here you can view the Club House, Wellington Hanger, Motoring Village housing a collection of Motor Vehicles, Aviation Park and the London Bus Museum plus Mercedes Benz World. We have also included a virtual “flight” experience on the Brooklands Concorde and there will be an optional chance to experience the new Brooklands 4D Theatre Napier Railton Experience (Admission Extra).
Late afternoon, we depart Brooklands and take the short drive back to your hotel to enjoy some leisure time ahead of dinner this evening. (Meals = Breakfast, Dinner)
SUNDAY – This morning following breakfast, we bid farewell to the Marriott Windsor/Heathrow as we take you to the historic riverside town of Windsor. Enjoy some free time exploring this most regal of towns and why not take an optional visit to Windsor Castle. This afternoon, we bid farewell to Windsor as we journey home taking the memories of this fascinating three-day break with us. We arrive back at your original departure point this evening. (Meals = Breakfast)
Inside the Balloon Hangar building, we have created a 4D Theatre that provides the closest experience any living person will have of “driving” around the Brooklands Race Track at 100mph.
Visitors to the Museum can now take their seats for the ride of their life in a brand new, state-of-the-art 4D Theatre. Just as John Cobb and Sir Malcolm Campbell did in the 1930s, you can now see, hear, feel and even smell what it would have been like to race around the concrete banked circuit in a pre-War racing car.
